الاسماء وجمعها " Plural nouns "

To make the plural we usually add “s” to the noun and use plural verb.


- Table tables
- Book books



EX: The goods have been sent to you. Not the good has..


Elephants are intelligent animals.



The cars are in the street.



Some nouns have only a plural form (with es) and take a plural verb. - When the nouns end with ( s,x.ch.sh.ss)



- Match matches
- glass glasses



There is one bus in the garage.
There are three buses in the garage.



The nouns the end with “y” we remove “y” and add “ies”

- Baby babies
- Lady Ladies


Paris is a large city
London and Paris are large cites


The nouns the end with “f.fe” we remove “f,fe” and add “ves”

- Thief thieves
- Knife knives


There are four knives on the table.




There are irregular nouns:

Mouse mice

The children are in the classroom.

8- Several, many, both, and few are always plural


Several are leaving now. Or Several people are leaving now.


Both are leaving.



9Some nouns are always in the plural, and the verb after these nouns is always plural.

Your jeans are very old.


If you added “ a pair of” to the clothes, or “ a word of “ to the noun , they will treated as singular.

I need a new pair of glasses.

My shoes are clean


This pair of shoes needs to be cleaned


His thanks were very nice


A word of thanks is always nice.
